MSCI's 5th Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit celebrates ERGs acheivements

Our annual global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit is organized to celebrate the work and achievements of our Employee Resource Groups, as well as to provide a forum for discussion and engagement on key DE&I issues. During the month of November, our various ERG’s each presented the progress they have made during the year, and their upcoming plans.

The Women’s Leadership Forum, MSCI’s longest standing ERG shared the long list of external events – panel discussions, workshops, webinars and bell ringing events, among others – they have participated in, as well as the over 70 events they have sponsored or organized for MSCI colleagues across the globe. They also highlighted their efforts towards attracting female talent to join our organization.

Pride & Allies was the second ERG at MSCI and began through employee advocacy in our San Francisco office and quickly grew to more than 10 global chapters. Besides a summary of all events that their local chapters organized, the summit focused on leadership development sessions, facilitated by guests from Out Leadership, as well as on a brainstorm session where members of the ERG discussed key development opportunities for the growth of Pride & Allies.

During their part of the Summit, our Black Leadership Network reflected on their achievements over the last 12 months, held a forward-looking strategy session, and hosted some very engaging debates on diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Asian Support Network held their second Summit this year, hosting multiple exciting discussions. Tia Counts, Chief Responsibility & Chief Diversity Officer joined a roundtable discussion on supporting and retaining internal talent and bringing awareness to various cultures and experiences. Jigar Thakkar, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering at MSCI, Kazuya Nagasawa, Head of APAC Client Coverage & Head of APAC Analytics and Jeremy Baskin, Head of Americas Client Coverage joined a conversation around the ASN’s focus of the 3 C’s: Community, Career and Culture.

Two of our newest ERG’s both had their first summits this year. Hola! MSCI focused on their milestones towards their goal of uniting and developing the MSCI Hispanic community, as well as the opportunities to further expand their network, nurture the culture, and address issues the Hispanic community faces. Our All Abilities Network celebrated the progress they have made since forming late last year, and invited guest speakers from Disability:IN and 10,000 Able Interns to share insights on how the one billion members of the disabled community intersect with every other dimension of our world, whether it be ethnicity, gender, LGBTQAI+, skills, educational or social background. Women in Tech held their first summit this year as well, where they’ve announced the continuation of their successful WIT Mentor Program and Women in Innovation programs in 2023, both of which ran with great success this year.

Finally, we concluded the 5^th annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Summit with a fireside chat with our CEO, Henry Fernandez, and Managing Director & Corporate Secretary, Cecilia Aza. Henry stressed that being a leader in diversity, equity and inclusion is a journey, not a destination, and that we need to hold ourselves accountable for driving progress. He also touched on the importance of leadership, authenticity, belonging, and being the best version of ourselves within our organization.
