What has flexible working at RSSB meant for you?
It has been very beneficial to me and held large appeal for me to decide to work for RSSB. I have a young Pre-School Age Daughter so this has made it easier for me to take and collect her to and from Nursery and take care of her needs when required. I am also to swap my Commuting time to spend quality time with her (You can never get this time back) and it has made me more productive with managing my time wisely to develop my skills and assisting others within RSSB.
What benefit do you think there are to others and RSSB?
It is a very inclusive culture where everyone’s contribution is requested and welcomed. You never feel like just a name and a number but a valued member of staff. There is also a big emphasis on mental health awareness/well-being and to ensure that this is looked after. I have never seen such an emphasis on this with any other Employer before.
How are you taking advantage of the smart working policy?
It has enabled me to make best use of my time in completing my work for RSSB. I am able to manage my time effectively and it helps me prioritise what is most important in getting the job done. This less formal arrangement has enabled me to use my time wisely for complicated tasks at times suitable for me (I am very much a morning person, even at 6am!). and to also make sure I am readily available for Meetings with my colleagues, both in person and remotely.
What has it enabled you to do differently?
To plan my schedule and have a better work-life balance. I am able to attend appointments with my Wife and Children when required without compromising my workload and can programme my work requirements more effectively. This has reduced pressure on being there for my Family as well as my Work colleagues. In return, my family are more supportive when I choose to work later or earlier to ensure I am always up to date with my workload.
How has the smart working changed the culture at RSSB?
I have been with RSSB since June 2022 and can see that many are happy with this. I don’t feel micro-managed in any way and feel empowered to do my best to help both my colleagues and RSSB in general. I do enjoy coming in the Office at least 2 days a week and having that face to face interaction with others, you can’t replace that with fully remote working.
