Celebrating National Inclusion Week with Thales UK
Category: Race, Ethnicity & Heritage, Staff Network Group
National Inclusion Week (NIW) takes place in the last week of September. It’s a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces. Why is this so important to Thales? Alex Cresswell explains:
"At Thales, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce is more collaborative, innovative and better at solving our customers’ complex problems. Our aspiration is to provide a genuinely respectful and inclusive environment for all of our employees that embraces differences and allows everyone to be their best self."
We all deserve to feel that we belong and can be at our best, so it is our mission to create an inclusive workplace that promotes equity and values diversity. Regardless of age, ability, gender identity, race, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs we want our people to have the freedom and opportunity to be their authentic selves with us.
In this video, Ify Okolie, Product Safety Manager and Jonathan Balakumar, System Engineer talk about the relaunch of Thales UK's REACH Network and ways of supporting inclusion in the workplace.
About Thales
We’re a global business with over 8,000 people in the UK, working across every country of the Union. For many years, Thales has contributed to the security and stability of this nation by providing extraordinary technology to our customers in Government and industry. Operating across aerospace, defence, digital security and space, we help keep the nation safe and secure while contributing £1.6bn in economic value each year.
But with such scale comes responsibility. To achieve sustainable growth we must take a holistic approach to our business and create value beyond our bottom line; we need to consider the wider impact of our activities for our customers, employees and communities.
We are striving to create a workplace in which you can authentically Be You, With Us. This requires on-going, deliberate attention from all of us and is something you'll have the opportunity to help shape as we share much more about this in the months and years ahead.
As a business we provide CAREERS and not only jobs. With Thales employing 80,000 employees in 68 countries our mobility policy enables thousands of employees each year to develop their careers at home and abroad, in their existing areas of expertise or by branching out into new fields. Together we believe that embracing flexibility is a smarter way of working.
