Celebrating ethnic diversity at The Bank of England

In celebration of Black History Month, the Bank of England has created this amazing infographic to highlight the fantastic work they’re doing to achieve ethnic diversity.

We’ve marked Black History Month in October 2016 with a series of events led by our Ethnic Minorities Network (BEEM), including a panel discussion on black contribution to public service in the UK and an event celebrating black culture.

BEEM aims to inform, inspire, advocate and promote black, Asian and minority ethnic-related matters at the Bank of England. Over the last couple of years, it has led work on our Black African/African Caribbean scholarship, consulted with us on our diversity targets and introduced a very successful reciprocal mentoring scheme for black, Asian and minority ethic staff, Bridging Bridges.

First celebrated in 1987 in the UK, Black History Month is an annual celebration of the culture, history and achievements of black communities. BEEM has also used it as an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the various black, Asian and minority ethic cultures that make up our society and the Bank of England as a whole.
