The Trust is proud and committed to promote the White Ribbon Day which began on 25 November 2019, followed by 16 days of action.
The White Ribbon stands for the elimination of violence against women and girls by men all over the world. It was a group of men in Canada who began this campaign stating that it is men's responsibility to end this form of violence.
At the Trust, we started early with our White Ribbon Annual Conference on the 21 November themed 'Trauma Informed Approaches'. We had more than 90 staff attend this event.
A group of our service users also wrote to every manager asking them to put up two posters in their services to promote and support disclosure of domestic and sexual abuse. You can download the poster here - please do share in your areas.
On Monday 2 December, we were delighted to provide trauma-informed training to the newly-qualified nurses (pictured above). The Awareness and Response to Domestic and Sexual Abuse (AR-DSA) network will be rolling out trauma informed training workshops across 2020.
If you would like to join the AR-DSA network, please email [email protected]
This work also comes in alignment with ‘Islington says no more’ launch that happened on Friday 22 November. It is a national initiative and Islington is the first borough to have launched. It is about how, as a borough, we can improve our response to domestic and sexual abuse and a number of C&I staff have completed the training to be ambassadors within the borough.
