BBC is hosting its first ‘TechWomen Hackathon’ at their offices in MediaCity, Salford on Saturday, 15th July. It is a one-day innovation event and is completely free. The event provides female software engineers an opportunity to take part in a fun and interesting challenge, as well as, a chance to collaboratively work and learn from each other.
On the day of the event you will:
The Hackathon is going to be a wonderful opportunity for you to interact with the hiring managers and the existing staff. You will be able to get a real sense of what it is really like to work in BBC’s tech department. You do not have to be on the lookout for a new job to attend this event, but hopefully, the day is going to inspire and motivate you to apply for upcoming opportunities within the BBC.
The BBC Design & Engineering (D&E) Department
BBC’s D&E department drives such technological advancements and developments that are responsible for crafting the future of BBC. From innovation through to creation, BBC’s talented and highly-skilled teams help to keep the organisation at the cutting-edge of the broadcast industry. The products and services that the company delivers - from BBC Online to BBC iPlayer - are state-of-the-art. BBC is a rewarding, dynamic and exciting place to work for women.

BBC has development teams that are based across the UK, specifically in Salford and London. At present, the company is hiring for technical roles.
In order to create the best products, the company needs the best individuals. They want to ensure that their teams reflect their audiences with accuracy. Diversity and inclusion including creating a workforce that is gender-balanced, is of utmost importance to them. Currently, women are not properly represented within their tech division, this particular event is specifically open to them.
