Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentBank of England promotes an inclusive culture where everyone can contribute to the public good. As part of this they inspire colleagues to support the community and charitable causes that they care about.
Every year, colleagues are encouraged to nominate and subsequently vote for the charities they would like to support. Bank of England’s charities for 2016/17 are Macmillan Cancer Support and Haven House Children’s Hospice.
Bank of England staff collected over £1400 for Macmillan Cancer in Bank station as part of Macmillan City Takeover Day on June 6th this year.
Macmillan City Takeover Day in London happens one day every year and means Macmillan members of staff and volunteers have special permission to fundraise and raise awareness on the streets of London. Staff fundraise across London wearing the green Macmillan t-shirts and are able to collect any spare change people may wish to donate. 100% of the funds raised go to help Macmillan continue being there for people with cancer.
Last year Bank of England raised over £250,000 for their chosen charities for 2015/2016, the Myotubular Trust and The Lily Foundation. Staff raised the money through a range of fundraising events and initiatives such as taking part in the London marathon and a sponsored football match.
