Sky offers news, entertainment, broadband, and much more to 23 million customers across Europe. Everyone from TV technicians to newsreaders, from researchers to accountants, might find a great role at Sky. Whether you're a top of the line executive or just starting out, Sky has a place for you. Whether you've started a family or are trying something new after a career break, Sky might offer your next job. Sky is a household name, but here are three things you didn't know about working there.
MAMA youth project
In partnership with other networks Sky supports this innovative project. MAMA gives young people from under-represented backgrounds training that equips them for careers in media. It particularly focuses on young people with limited educational or employment opportunities, including unemployed graduates. MAMA are committed to getting young people into employment and to bringing diversity to the media industry. At Sky, MAMA youths produce a show for Sky One called What's Up? TV. This engaging show covers lifestyle and culture topics. Youths produce two series a year, doing everything from presenting to research to editing video. The award-winning programme gives young people the chance to work with up-and-coming artists. The show inspires everyone at Sky. It's exciting to work for a company that does so much to engage young people.
Training throughout your career
Developing talent from within the organisation can supercharge diversity and inclusion initiatives. If you bring a diverse group of people into your organisation, you can support them throughout their careers.
Sky is committed to this goal in all areas of the organisation. It aims to develop talent from within, including at entry level. Everything from podcasts to one-on-one training sessions is on offer for employees. For particular fields, like engineering, there are dedicated courses for people who want to try something new.
And Sky is always looking to achieve gender equality. There's the Women in Leadership programme, which offers sponsorship and career and personal development for talented women. And Women in Technology and Engineering offers skills and work experience to bring more women into the field.
Comprehensive health support
Sky offers a 24-hour help line for employees and their families. It also offers tax free bicycle buying programmes and discounts on a wide range of high street gyms. A health problem can arise for anyone, so flexible working and career breaks are valuable support options. And shared parental leave means that you and your partner can recover after the challenges of pregnancy.
