Our commitment to Inclusion and Belonging reflects our values and purpose and we’re passionate about ensuring that everyone in the firm feels respected and included and we make business work better for all our people.
The aim of Our FREE Network ("Faith, Race, Ethnicity and Equality) is to make Pinsent Masons the best place for our staff to work at all levels, where they are free to be themselves and to embrace their faith and ethnicity in an open and welcoming environment.
We provide a valuable support network and a great forum to meet and interact with colleagues from a range of backgrounds. Hosting many events, which include celebrating different faiths and ethnicities, training, and presentations from inspirational speakers, along with engaging with many partner schools and organisations to increase accessibility to the legal profession for young people from diverse backgrounds. We also circulate information regarding different religious events celebrated throughout the year and seek to provide an open forum in which employees can share their faith experiences, practices, and beliefs and learn from one another.
The objective of the group is to focus on the importance of diversity within our firm and to develop sustainable client and community relationships. We also play an important role in the development of the firm's policies and initiatives which have a particular faith and ethnicity focus.
We signed the Halo Code in March 2021, to signify the fact that Pinsent Masons champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
