EMPLOYMENT LAW SENIOR ASSOCIATE - LUXEMBOURG

Brief

We are currently looking to recruit an employment law lawyer from 6 years PQE to join our Employment Team in Luxembourg.

Our Global Employment and Reward Group has over 100 employment lawyers across our international offices. We have one of the best resourced teams of employment specialists within our global practice, offering both national coverage from our office in Luxembourg and an international offering through our employment specialists in our other European offices, the Gulf and Asia Pacific.

We act as trusted advisor to a number of leading FTSE blue chip organisations in multiple jurisdictions which are additional to Luxembourg and include the UK , Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Gulf and Asia Pac. Our clients rely upon us to help them not only with technical legal issues but also to act as true business partners, understanding the particular challenges and opportunities within their respective sectors and businesses.

Our Luxembourg office advises on contentious and non-contentious matters for domestic and international clients. Our work regularly involves an international dynamic, working closely with colleagues in our international offices. For example, we regularly advise clients on cross border information and consultation, and global mobility. Our Luxembourg office also advises clients in relation to executive level employment law such as senior level recruitment and termination, executive compensation arrangements, bonus claims, and enforcement of restrictive covenants. We also assist clients with day-to-day employment queries, such as managing sickness absences, dealing with bullying allegations and restructuring .

Candidate Summary

The successful candidate will ideally be a 6+ PQE lawyer having trained in either a top tier Luxembourg firm or international firm and the individual will have an ambition to support the growth and development of our Luxembourg employment team, as part of a global offering.

The role will involve providing day-to-day legal advice to HR professional clients and their in-house legal teams. It will also involve litigation and work investigations (for example, supporting our white collar crime team with the HR aspects of regulatory investigations). In addition to the contentious practice there will also be an opportunity to help our clients deliver solutions within the M&A and outsourcing space. The successful candidate will also work closely with corporate colleagues on transactional matters and will be involved in all aspects of the team's workload.

The Global Employment & Reward Group are increasingly engaging with clients on strategic projects such as global change management exercises, reward philosophy projects and preparing for the implementation of gender pay gap legislation.

Candidates will have a strong academic background and an outgoing personality. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will also be a team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to be actively involved in business development.

As well as having the experience mentioned above, the candidate should be:
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic about winning new clients.
  • Happy to work on creating marketing material, pitches, client meetings, know-how and being involved in business development - this is a growing team and accordingly we would like the candidate to take an active part in that.
  • A dynamic team player who can work with different teams and lawyers across the firm and work in an organized, reactive and autonomous way; and
  • Keen to work in a growing international firm that is making headlines.
  • Completed the Cours Complémentaires de Droit Luxembourgeois and are registered to the bar of Luxembourg.
  • At least 6 years' experience in employment law in Luxembourg.
  • Being fluent in French, English and German, Luxembourgish would be an asset.

  • Advising clients on all matters relating to employment law and social security law, such as recruitment, drafting of employment contracts and amendments, modification of working conditions, secondment, transfer of business, individual or collective dismissal, negotiation and drafting of out-of-court agreements, and more generally HR support.
  • Representation and defense of clients' interests before the courts.
  • Contributing to the know-how and development of our database, as well as sharing it.
  • Writing articles and contributing to conferences.
