Because we firmly believe that, tomorrow, companies will be at the heart of social transformations, IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité has just changed its name to become Enterprises for the City, the network of companies invested in Social Innovation .
IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité was founded 30 years ago, with a visionary intuition for the time, that of Claude Bébéar and several other great leaders: the company could develop well only in a healthy environment. To grow, the company needed a company that was doing well. It was in his own interest to contribute to social progress. Businesses could not have profit as their sole objective.
With its new name, Les entreprises pour la Cité , the association intends to continue its action. More than ever today, private actors, and especially businesses, have become key in driving change. Involved in CSR initiatives, they have the resources to provide effective solutions to societal issues that the public can not meet alone. They have means for them that states no longer have, a tremendous human capital, most often willing to act, and resources to drive change. They are able to federate many actors of their territories, to drive complex collective dynamics.
Our conviction is strong: the world will be better with companies or it will not be. And that's why today we want to accelerate and reaffirm, with our new signature, the role of companies in the fight against inequality.
