Job purpose:

The Drug Substance Scientific technical logistics lead will autonomously manage the activities and the team engaged in logistic activities embedded within the Drug Substance workflows, including complex media development, optimisation, single use assemblies, material preparation and other logistic activities (warehouse, inventory, ...). The Scientific technical logistics lead will drive continuous optimisation of the logistics activities to become more lean and agile. As media development is increasingly becoming part of the Drug Substance workflow, the lead will be involved in development of new capabilities for media development and related analytical expertise.

Your responsibilities:

  • You co-ordinate and harmonize wherever possible the logistics activities, resources and skills at the sites of Gembloux and Rixensart.

  • You organize, coordinate, and manage day to day Material Preparation for Drug Substance Process Development at small scale and large scale including customized (single use) assemblies specific to Drug Substance projects.

  • You ensure that the development and optimisation of media and buffers is robust and manufacturable for transfer to GMP facilities (TRD GMP / GIO).

  • You support the Technical risk assessment for logistics activities.

  • You evaluate capacities (employees and machinery) to ensure full alignment of project timelines and the development and/or preparation of media and buffer.

  • You ensure a good collaboration between the logistic team and Process development teams.

  • You ensure correct forecast of raw materials and devices for the global DS teams.

  • You ensure compliance EHS standards and policies.

  • You manage a team of technicians and operators.

  • You make sure that the facility is properly managed in accordance with SOE quality standards.

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Master and/ or Engineering degree or previous related experience.

  • At least 4 to 5 years of experience in vaccines, biopharmaceuticals or scientific environment.

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in people Management.

  • Good understanding of Biopharma / vaccine development processes.

  • Understanding of operations & GMP manufacturing is an asset.

  • Understanding of Quality by Design approach and deliverables (technical risk assessment).

  • Experience in technology transfer.

  • Project management expertise.

  • Ability to lead a team, develop people, set direction, focus on priorities, and inspire.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and French both scientifically/technically as well as conversational.

  • Sound scientific methodology, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Good organization skills (day-to-day operations and lab management).

  • Good stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
