What will you do?

The filling of drug products and vaccines is carried out in filling isolators that have been sterilized. A common method consists in vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) in the isolator due to its low cycle times and nontoxic residuals. However, VHP can leave residual levels of hydrogen peroxide behind (
VHP exposition is reproduced at lab scale by directly spiking liquid H2O2 in the final container (syringe or vial). A recent publication suggests the need to improve the current practice by taking into account multiple possible sources of uptake along filling lines.

Goal of the internship will be to further investigate on those additional VHP uptake sources and improve the current laboratory practice.

Experimental activities will occur both in GSK Wavre and GSK Rixensart.

What are we looking for?

A person interested by the Pharma world, more particularly on the late development and production stages of vaccines.

A dynamic person open-minded but critical thinker, who is both ready to contribute with her/his academic knowledge, and eager to discover the world of R&D within a team focused on the development and improvement of filling processes.

After being familiarized with the equipment and with GSK security rules, the student will be required to move and transit between the Wavre and Rixensart sites to perform experimentation and analytics.

Although under supervision, the successful candidate will demonstrate relative autonomy, a sense of responsibility and the ability to report progresses and potential problem proactively. As a representative of the global process engineering group associated with the R&D, the student will be involved in discussion and will be required to communicate with other departments.
