Disability at North Yorkshire Hospice Care
Be yourself and be supported: disability at North Yorkshire Hospice Care
Every day, our teams at Herriot Hospice Homecare, Just ‘B’ and Saint Michael’s Hospice support people living with illness, disability and loss. We know that health is personal, that it can change, and that the right support at the right time makes all the difference. We want our own people to feel that too.
Whether you’re disabled, neurodivergent, living with a long-term health condition, or you’re not sure whether any of those words fit you, you’re welcome here. You don’t need to tell us anything you don’t want to. But if there’s something that would help you do your best, we’d love to know.
Applying to join us
We want our recruitment process to work for you. If you need any adjustments when applying or at interview, just let us know.
There are no surprises. If you’re shortlisted, we’ll tell you in advance about any tasks to prepare, and most of our interviews are held by a small panel of two or three managers.
And if you meet most of what we’re looking for but not quite everything, we’d still encourage you to apply. You may be just the person we need.
Once you’re part of our team
Adjustments don’t stop once you’ve started. If you need support with your role, your workspace or your working pattern, we will work with you to find what helps.
If your health changes while you’re with us, we’ll support you to stay in work and keep doing the role you care about.
Where we’re going
We’re Disability Confident Committed and we know there’s more to do. Through our FREDIE strategy, built on Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement, we’re building our team’s understanding of the barriers people can face, so that everyone who works or volunteers with us feels they belong.
Because no-one should have to choose between their health and a role that makes a real difference.
