ABOUT

The Civil Service offers work experience opportunities to unemployed young people aged 18 to 24 as part of Movement to Work.

Movement to Work is a voluntary collaboration of leading employers in the United Kingdom, including the Civil Service, who are helping young people aged 18 to 24 who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) move closer to employment by providing quality work experience and learning opportunities.

Placements will, where possible, be linked to jobs or apprenticeships in order to meet the Movement’s aspiration to collectively support 50% of young people trained through the scheme to progress into employment.

Work placements in the Civil Service last 4 to 6 weeks and all young unemployed people aged between 18 to 24 are eligible.

A range of departments in the Civil Service are committed to Movement to Work placements during 2014 to 2015 with even more joining from 2015. Jobcentre Plus operate the scheme for the Civil Service, linking young unemployed people to work experience opportunities.
