Your Future, Your Ambition

Where did we start? 

Your Future, Your Ambition was founded by Rashada Harry and Tunji Akintokun. In 2012 Cisco's Connected Black Professionals organisation brought together over 15 companies for an event called Your Future, Your Ambition at Cisco House. The aim of the event was to inspire young people from predominately ethnic backgrounds about STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) based subjects and the exciting career paths they could follow.

The event was a resounding success with over 350 schoolchildren and students attending the day gaining an experience they treasured and valued. The overall satisfaction rating for the event was 4.8 out of 5.0.

The key takeaway theme from the event from both the education institutions and key corporate stakeholders that attended, was Legacy. Hence the Your Future, Your Ambition initiative will continue through a number of key activities culminating with an annual event taking place at a showcase venue to bring together as many children and students to explore all that is possible.

Where are we now? 

Now the event provides younger age groups (7-16) with exciting and inspiring activities, whilst providing the older age groups (17+ yrs) with access to blue chip organisations through key workshops and exposure designed to provide the key tools top companies are looking for in respect to STEM based careers.

Each year the event aims to attract more companies in order to connect with more schools and students. This will create a stronger and more binding link between education and industry.

The event consists of Activities, Exposure and Experiences provided by key companies and specialist organisations.
