Our Trust is rated as 'Outstanding for Caring' by the CQC - fundamental to this is the way that we value and respect our staff. At every level, we value the diversity of our colleagues and actively champion an inclusive culture. We believe that everyone without exception should feel free to be their authentic self in the workplace.
We understand that work is only one part of life. We are committed to helping our colleagues achieve the best possible work\/life balance. We proudly offer supportive, inclusive and family friendly employment and flexible working policies. We have a wide range of professional services and employee networks to help our colleagues be at their best - and find support if they need it.
Our Trust is already a Disability Confident employer and we are holding ourselves to account through the Workplace Disability Equality Standard (WDES). Our work on promoting equity and inclusion for our Black, and Minority Ethnic (BME) colleagues continues to be driven by engagement with the WRES (Workforce Race Equality Standard) and the WRES Experts Programme.
In 2019, we committed ourselves to becoming a Stonewall Top 100 LGBTQ+ Employer. We also support the national 'Veteran Aware' scheme and are an ERS Silver accredited Hospital who welcomes applications from all members of the Armed Forces communities.
For our patients, we do everything we can to deliver fair access to all our services. This includes providing interpretative and other services to meet the needs of disabled communities. We're careful to show sensitivity towards ethnic, cultural and religious differences. Our staff uphold these values and so help our care to get better all the time.
About this vacancy
Following an extensive procurement, we have confirmed our partnership with Allocate to supply workforce deployment software. Rolled out through our new 'Ways of Working' programme and dedicated Trust project team, this will be a unique opportunity to:
transform the working lives of our 10,000+ staff by rolling out innovative flexible working options that help achieve the best possible work\/life balance, and open employment opportunities to the widest pool of talent;
use resource management data to help clinical staff understand and own their own information, and management teams to match their available workforce to our patient care needs\/activity;
streamline our administrative processes - improving the workplace experience of our staff, and freeing up time for other activities that have a direct impact on patient care; and
make a wider contribution by publishing our experience as a full evaluation\/research study, and rigorously tracking benefits\/metrics throughout the programme.
We believe that by involving our teams from the start, supporting innovative working arrangements, and introducing effective resource management, we can significantly improve the health, wellbeing and workplace experience of our staff; the efficiency and financial sustainability of our services; and the quality and safety of our patient care - our BSUH 'True North'.
We are now establishing the Project Team and are looking to recruit an experienced manager to lead on the design and adoption of innovative working practices (eg. team-based self-rostering, flexible working, annualised hours) that flex workforce supply to best match patient care demand\/activity, and design and implement a user engagement strategy for the programme that leaves staff feeling motivated, more able to contribute to improvements at work, and more likely to recommend BSUH as an employer.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to drive sustainable workforce innovation through a structured delivery programme; build on your own curiosity about behavioural science ('nudge theory') and Human Factors approaches; develop your portfolio of leadership experience and springboard your career; and make a tangible difference to our staff - and, ultimately, our patients.
If you're passionate about change, think you have the skills and commitment to help us achieve our ambitious goals, and would thrive in a dynamic and inclusive implementation team, we'd love to hear from you.
