The Role


The role of the Underwriter
Assistant will be to support the underwriting team of PFLA Ltd. in accordance with the business plans and
within delegated underwriting authority, as agreed within the binder

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support underwriters in assessing risk quality of proposals, gathering relevant information, collecting and tracking signed copies of all documents
  • Ensure up to date records are maintained at all times on the IT systems
  • Help underwriters deal with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and third parties
  • Ensure that service levels to insurance brokers are of a high standard
  • Maintain underwriting files and systems in compliance with Underwriting Guidelines
  • Assist with effective operation of risk controls, adhere to underwriting compliance checks, monitor premium closings and credit control
  • Assist in the production of statistical and analytical reports for management and capacity providers

The Requirements

  • Hold A Levels and ideally in numerate disciplines (equivalent qualifications also sufficient)
  • Working towards, or able to demonstrate an interest in working towards CII Cert
  • Experience in the insurance industry would advantageous, including one or more of the following: policy work and preparation, basic accounts, claims, insurance broking or direct client liaison
  • All round awareness of those aspects of the insurance industry that have a direct bearing on key responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently and methodically
  • Strong networking and communication skills
  • Efficient and highly organised
  • Pro-active and strategic approach to work
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment
