Role Summary

To provide a professional, knowledgeable, and efficient Health and Safety service for the benefit of the Accenture UKI business, delivering the health and safety strategy and the Occupational Health and Safety Management System with the aim to proactively and reactively reduce infrastructure risks to Accenture.

The UKI Health and Safety Lead, reporting to the UKI Risk Lead, is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Accenture Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) in both the UK and Ireland, including safety statements, policy and procedures and advising employees and project teams on health and safety matters. There is a requirement to manage the programmes to retain ISO 45001 and Achilles Verify registrations, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation; reduce the risk of personal injury to employees, corporate damage and financial loss. The role also requires management of the workload and provision of guidance for the Accenture UKI Health and Safety Advisor Team and line management of members of the H&S Team.

1 PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES



Service Management
  • Maintain general knowledge of Accenture's business, how it is changing and the effects on teams locally and globally. Ensure this knowledge is applied in the planning and implementation of the health & safety management system

  • Developing, improving, implementing and maintaining the Accenture Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) in both the UK and Ireland, including safety statements, policy and procedures, advising employees and project teams on health and safety matters

  • Maintain the programme and supplier relationship with BSI to retain ISO 45001 registration in the UK and Ireland

  • Plan for the annual Achilles Verify Audit

  • Provide input to the Assessment and Audit Plan for Accenture UKI offices and service sites. The Plan will include the following:

  • Building Risk Assessments

  • Fire Risk Assessments

  • Internal Audits

  • External Audits

  • Maintain stakeholder contact to ensure service delivery reflects business need

  • Provide consultancy services to the company as required on all areas of health & safety

  • Provide the company's insurers with documentation to demonstrate our commitment to effective health and safety management and legal compliance
    • Provide input and support as required in the completion of Request for Proposal (RFP) / Request for Information (RFI) documentation and maintain the Accenture RFI portal site (health & safety)
    • Monitor changes to legislation that may have an impact on health & safety and discuss with the UKI Risk Lead to ensure the appropriate steps are taken to implement actions ensuring ongoing compliance
    • Investigate accidents and produce a report detailing the actions required to mitigate future risk of recurrence
    • Provide support and guidance to the UKI Workplace Risk Management Team on matters relating to reportable incidents and any subsequent investigation
    • Review incidents with UKI Risk Lead and report to the enforcing authorities to ensure compliance with UK and Irish legislation
    • Act as escalation point for any issues arising from our customers relating to health & safety
    • Review departmental process to ensure it remains efficient, effective and relevant to the customer service offering



    Project Management
    • Identify and track project risks and issues; develop and implement risk mitigation strategies consulting with UKI Risk Lead as required
    • Produce complete, accurate and timely status reports for all health & safety activity on a weekly basis for UKI Risk Lead
    • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate health & safety activity and related results to the UKI Risk Lead, IRC (Infrastructure Risk Committee) and Stakeholders as required
    • Produce and deliver 3 quarterly Employee Forum presentations and circulate the presentations and minutes
    • Schedule and chair the Northern/Central and Ireland quarterly Regional Risk Reports

  • Provide input to the UKI Workplace Risk Management business plan and own related activities as appropriate

  • Provide all necessary H&S information for RFPs etc. as required within the given timeframes

    People & Team Activities

  • Provide effective management of all assigned staff, ensuring they are performance managed to a high standard, providing performance feedback in a timely manner, managing poor performance effectively and completing formal performance feedback via the Performance Achievement tool at the end of each priority and performance year

  • Ensure there is effective communication across teams (community events, forums, written communications and team meetings etc.)

  • Ensure that assigned staff remain focused, productive and motivated

  • Proactively manage direct reports to ensure optimum performance, engagement levels and morale through regular one-to-one reviews

  • Ensure that regular skill gap assessments are used to drive a business and personal training programme for direct reports

  • Manage their own performance attending 1-1s and team meetings on a regular basis to review performance and to identify issues, opportunities and development needs that meet the needs of Workplace and its customers

    Communications



    • Identify and define health & safety related communication requirements as required

  • Assist with the development of a communication plan for UKI Workplace Risk Management in conjunction with the UKI Risk Lead and Healthy Working Lead and integrate with AWS Communications Plan (ensure adherence to AWS and UKI communication standards)

  • Schedule and chair meeting with all Stakeholders (H&S personnel/HR/HSESC (Health & Safety and Environmental Site Coordinator)/Location Manager/business representatives) to facilitate health & safety activities and provide support and guidance as required

  • Manage health & safety portal data to ensure it is current and accurate

  • Liaise and communicate with internal and external suppliers to improve service offerings and work with them to develop simple and easy to understand processes as required (e.g. training courses, risk assessment undertakings)

  • Establish good working relationship with Accenture UKI Legal Teams to share information and define required actions as appropriate

  • Establish good working relationship with the UKI Company POC and GRA&I on event and insurance matters

  • Provide support for events



    Budget Management




    In conjunction with the UKI Risk Lead:

    • Establish detailed budget requirements and reforecast regularly to reflect changing business needs
    • Monitor spend against budget, ensuring rate of spend and actual out turn are within budget forecast
    • Prepare operational and finance status and variance commentary for inclusion in reporting
    • Manage purchase order and invoice approval process for health & safety related procurement
    • Ensure compliance with Accenture's procurement and payment policies and invoices are paid on time
    • Provide considered propositions for cost savings to Management


    Documentation/ Management Reporting
    • Provide input to quarterly Infrastructure Risk Committee (IRC) report providing accurate and relevant Safety and Security performance related statistics and progress against objectives
    • Prepare reports and presentations as required to communicate risk management information to relevant stakeholders
    • Attend and be prepared for meetings with the UKI Security/Risk Leads highlighting key initiatives, the latest status updates, successes, concerns and issues associated with service delivery

  • Source and provide information for Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation as required (often requiring urgent response)

  • Compare and benchmark Supplier performance across the portfolio and with wider industry to report on and implement opportunities for improvement

  • Prepare, analyse and distribute monthly Clearance reports to Authorising Persons to ensure compliance on Access Levels, taking action on changes instructed by Customer.

    Problem Solving

  • Resolution of customer complaints and issues relating to health & safety

  • Discuss and agree health & safety related activities with stakeholders and agree actions to mitigate risk
