Finance professionals play a critical role in supporting the demands of multiple constituents, including AIG executives, regulators, and stakeholders, while staying at the forefront of accounting and reporting requirements and compliance strategies. The Finance team includes Treasury and Capital Markets; Actuarial and Value Management; Finance Operations; and the Enterprise Finance Transformation program.

Core Purpose of the Role:
  • Provides financial support to the UK Financial Lines Leadership team on formation and quantification of strategy including scenario analytics to support strategy decisions
  • Supporting the UK Financial Lines Leadership team on all aspects of financial and profitability reporting and analysis.
  • Reporting and Monitoring of the Performance of the Business/Segments (Key P&L items) vs Plan, KPI analysis (business drivers), quality of business mix
  • Analysis and insightful update of actual business performance relative to plan
  • UK FL Budget process, forecasting and Management reporting
  • Deliver the Int. QBR, and support of ad-hoc global business reviews

Key Responsibilities -
  • Monitoring the Performance of the Business/Segments: Business Drivers and Key P&L Items relative to Plan, leveraging reports produced by the Reporting Team and providing Business Heads with relevant updates to ensure any corrective actions can be timely executed
  • Analytics: Develop actionable insightful commentary for product leader and management, utilising various data sources and reporting.
  • Business Planning: Drive the PO Budgeting and Forecasting process for assigned Business, including the preparation of Operating Plan. Support Legal Entity Budget process
  • Interaction with Actuarial & Claims - work with Pricing & Reserving Actuaries, and Claims: (i) Drive the linkage among the teams to ensure all relevant stakeholders are aligned regarding projected and actual loss experience relative to plan. (ii) Review and validate/challenge of AAL, Severe Loss loads, PYD, and AY Loss Ratio updates
  • Expense Management and monitoring, transparency of expense drivers, leveraging reports produced centrally.
  • Reinsurance - support requirements for reinsurance strategy
  • Preparation of Business Reviews - QBR: Coordinate and Ensure Business Leaders are well prepared for any standard and ad-hoc business performance reviews
  • Control & Statutory Reporting - review and validate actual results throughout the quarter-close process in close collaboration with Controllers and Reserving teams, including assisting in the preparation of statutory reporting packs.

Excellent time management & organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines. Excellent communication (written and presentational) skills
  • Interpersonal, Team and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and great team player, with the ability to communicate effectively with impact across functions. Excellent written and oral communications. Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to persuade, influence and convince others. Matrix leadership through robust delivery management, coaching and guidance.
  • Financial and Strategic Acumen: Accomplished in engagement, partnership and cross functional collaboration at an Executive Level. Driven finance individual with in-depth knowledge of the Commercial Insurance lines in terms of both UW and Expenses. Highly analytical mind with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.
  • Technical Skills: Strong data and financial systems knowledge. Practical within existing data limitations and creative with new solutions. Excellent problem solving skills with a continuous improvement mind-set and bring suggestions and proposed solutions to the table. Strong focus on attention to detail and the desire to deliver accuracy and quality. Specialist understanding of accounting and control for insurance. Awareness of accounting practises and policies.

Key Experience -
  • Qualified Accountant or equivalent
  • Extensive experience working in a financial services firm, preferably insurance
  • Experience of leading a senior team in a fast paced multinational organisation with experience of matrix reporting structures preferred
  • Strong operational experience and abilities to work to demanding deadlines .
  • Experience of working in a matrix reporting structure and within an onshore-offshore model
