JOB PURPOSE/ROLE At AGCS we combine specialist expertise and global reach with high levels of AA rated underwriting capacity to industry specific exposures. This allows us to establish a reputation as leaders of some of the largest and most complex Liability risks in the market. Reporting directly to the Regional Head of Liability, Regional Unit London, you will lead and manage the General Liability teams. You will also train and develop the team and be a referral point for the underwriters. You will have ownership of the General Liability portfolio and have responsibility for the P&L within the team. Your responsibilities will also include developing and maintaining strong broker and client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will..... •Manage and supervise team client accounts and act as point of referral and/or escalation for issues •Delegate tasks to team in order to achieve overall results •Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for General Liability •Training, development and coaching of less experienced employees •Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets •Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. Proactively manage capacity •Underwrite in line with General Liability governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles •Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary) •Positively represent AGCS externally to the market and encourage more junior team members to raise their own profile and that of the team
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE •You have at least 5 years’ experience underwriting profitable business in the General Liability segment of large corporate international insurance •Ideally you are CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it •You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within your reference market •You have a specialized understanding of regional / national General Liability insurance markets and the competitor landscape •You are able to negotiate effectively achieving the best outcome for your portfolio while maintaining positive business relationships with your clients and brokers •You are capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective •You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework •You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts
