This role will be responsible for the day to day running of the material planning team and function, you will ensure that your team has the right levels of support, metrics and tools available to them to carry out their jobs effectively. You will also be the driving force behind planning processes to guarantee your team can scale to meet a complex multi site environment.
You will act as a point of contact for stakeholders outside of the planning team and ensure good cross functional relationships are created and maintained between the teams, you will focus on delivering improvements to your teams processes and the wider supply chain.
You will continually challenge behaviours and processes to find smarter ways of working that contribute towards a noiseless planning operation.
What you'll do (job tasks and responsibilities)
Oversee the day to day operations of the Materials Planning team and Supply Chain Coordinators
Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements
Ensure that product is planned to be moved between sites effectively to meet demand in the most cost effective way
Organise your team effectively to cover holiday and sickness
Take ownership of any planning issues that arise and liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve
Develop processes and use Continuous Improvement to drive down waste levels and increase efficiency
Be the link between the planning team and other stakeholders to ensure the planning team focus on their core responsibilities
Continually look to Identify and implement improvements to the material planning and transfer processes
Provide coaching and guidance to your direct team through regular 121's and performance reviews
Design, develop and implement flexible solutions which help support the companies growth plans
Skills, knowledge and abilities required to be effective in this position
Experience in a Planning Management role
Ability to work in fast-paced evolving environment
Proven Management skills with the ability to drive a high performing team
Competency with Microsoft Excel
High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new software
Very high attention to detail
Highly analytical and enjoys problem solving
Experience using ERP, MRP, WMS systems
Experience in a food supply chain environment desirable but not essential
Shelf life to customer
