About this vacancy
This role offers a great breadth of acute care experience to build a career as a Respiratory Nurse Specialist or as a stepping stone to ITU
The Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, comprises of 31 beds in Egremont, Catherine James and Overton wards. The nursing team rotate through these ward areas and specialise in caring for patients experiencing a diverse range of acute respiratory conditions including asthma, Tuberculosis and Chronic Obstructive Airways disease. Some patients have chest drains in place which may require thoracic suction, others a tracheostomy and a significant proportion receive Bi-level Non-Invasive Ventilation therapy. As a result the unit cares for both level 1 and level 2 patients' and is supported by a dedicated lead consultant and respiratory clinical nurse specialists. Your comprehensive orientation and continuous professional development is available through a range study options. Our dedicated Practice Development Nurse will provide the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within this specialty.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) is currently going through an exciting period of change. The £500M "3T's" redevelopment of The Royal Sussex County Hospital is underway and stage one will be completed in two years.
