EIS is a well-established, multi-disciplinary team serving the culturally diverse London Borough of Islington. EIS has a strong research ethic, with the team participating in several multi-centre studies. The age range is 14-65; a small co-located CAMHS team work with the 14-18 year olds.
The service aims are:
• To offer early assessment, diagnosis and treatment of FEP. • To offer person centred, individual, culturally sensitive care, with an emphasis on increasing stability, skill development and developing social roles. • To maximise both symptomatic and social recovery after a first episode of psychosis through effective engagement with service users. • To minimise the service user's first experiences of service contact being disconcerting or stigmatising • To support and educate carers, and involve them as fully as possible in service users' care.
The successful applicant will be a qualified Social Worker / AMHP and will be expected to carry a generic caseload, as well as participating in the Islington AMHP duty rota for Mental Health Act Assessments. Additionally there will be an emphasis on Safeguarding and Social Care issues.
The successful applicant will also be encouraged to develop their leadership skills, supervise junior staff and will deputise for the Team Manager at times. Other development activities include peer support, regular supervision and participation in the EIS training programme.
Applicants are advised the selection process will comprise of a written test and interview.
