Job description

We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to help build and deliver the engagement strategy for The Queen's Awards for Enterprise (QAE).

The Social Media and Stakeholder Manager needs to be a self-starter and a confident communicator who pays close attention to detail, is proactive and flexible in their approach and innovative in their thinking.

The job holder will lead on our digital and engagement strategies to grow our social media communities across all platforms. They will devise plans to drive potential applicants to the Awards website. The nature of this work will entail contact with a huge range of partners including Number 10, Royal Households and business representative bodies.

You will be able to showcase your marketing, communication and digital skills and work collaboratively with colleagues to gain practical experience and knowledge. Opportunities include visiting winning businesses to showcase their success, working across Whitehall on a No10 priority and working on a unique Royal Programme!

About the Team

We are a small, dynamic and friendly team responsible for delivering the Queen's Awards programme. We work with technical assessors, provide support to judging panels and promote the Awards. The QAO continuously seeks ways to improve the annual process. The QAE are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses and are globally recognised. They are designed to showcase and encourage outstanding achievements. The Awards recognise UK businesses in the fields of International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility).

Responsibilities• To lead the competition process to design a new Awards' trophy. This includes appointing a contractor to create the winning design and briefing the Royal Households.

• Leading, delivering and evaluating our communications strategy. Running our social media programme and developing our online platform. You will use digital resources to increase efficiency, to help raise the profile across Whitehall and externally, with key partners.

• Working closely with BEIS Communications and Digital Teams to produce creative social media content and key resources for winners.

• Creating and evaluating the marketing and engagement strategy, seeking a year-on-year increase in the number of applications. This will be in response to feedback from the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee.

• Collaborating with colleagues across the department and partners outside to identify and secure a QAE Awards presence at suitable events.

• Actively engaging with colleagues and partners to secure their support for the Awards. Encouraging wide and pro-active promotion of our messages. Ensuring they have a clear understanding of our purpose and objectives. Taking into account their individual needs and championing inclusion and equality of opportunity.

• Actively seeking and considering input of people from a diverse group of backgrounds and running a programme of promotional events.

• Developing the QAE case study brochure, newsletter and survey on the benefits of achieving an award. Working proactively with analysts to lead on the research. Highlighting the significant findings and capturing these to improve communications to encourage more applications will be a priority.

• Working with the team and external partners to improve the online application and assessment platform and help users to navigate it.

• Aligning activities to deliver wider organisational priorities. Briefing ministers on business visits. Sharing information with teams across Whitehall to raise awareness of the QAE.

• Leading on presentations to partners and prospective applicants.

• Working with team members on other work strands to develop your skills in other areas and build the team's resilience. Investing time to develop a genuine positive team spirit and focus.

• Line managing the team's EO who is the Awards Manager.

Skills and Experience

Person Specification Skills required - Essential:

• Strong practical knowledge of social media is essential as the postholder will be responsible for creating and analysing infographics and their impact.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Strong organisational skills.

• Good Microsoft Office skills.

• Good project management skills.

Experience - Desirable:

• Previous experience of working in a digital/marketing/communications field, with stakeholders, and in a successful delivery team.
