Job description

JOB PURPOSE/ROLE
At AGCS we combine specialist expertise and global reach with high levels of AA rated underwriting capacity to industry specific exposures. This allows us to establish a reputation as leaders of some of the largest and most complex risks in the market.

Based in London and as part of the Energy & Construction team, you will work closely with clients and brokers to craft bespoke solutions and develop new relationships within the Engineering and Construction segment with a particular focus on oil and gas construction although experience of operational power business would also be advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will….
•Underwrite new and renewal business to meet profitability targets
•Underwrite in line with the Energy & Construction governance framework e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines and Functional Rules
•Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
•Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations
•Manage referrals and undertake 4-eye reviews with underwriters
•Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy
•Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders
•Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers
•Provide training and support to junior members of the Energy & Construction team


KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
•Preferably, you have a degree either in Engineering/Construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline
•Ideally you are CII qualified or working towards it
•You have at least 5 years’ experience underwriting profitable business in the Engineering & Construction segment of large corporate international insurance
•You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market
•You have a specialized understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape
•Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective
•You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
•You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
