You'll lead the development and delivery of thermal systems and subsystems for space projects at Thales Alenia Space UK. This will involve the design and analysis of the thermal architecture for equipment, systems, and ground support equipment, including development planning; de-risking; sizing and design; test hardware design; verification & testing.
We'll also look to you to coach and train less-experienced colleagues in thermal systems engineering, and help develop our overall thermal capability in order to support our ambitions to lead programmes as the prime contractor.Day to day your role will involve:
What we're looking for from you:
- Delivering spacecraft thermal systems and subsystems design and analysis to meet our customers' needs
- Leading thermal elements of systems architecture at equipment, subsystem, and spacecraft system level, from concept through to delivery
- Coordinating mechanical, thermal, and CAD teams
- Managing and evolving requirements through the development cycle, and architecture justification
- Forecasting, costing, and scheduling project activities
- Delivering review datapacks
What kind of person will succeed in this role?
- Experience in thermal systems engineering including design and analysis (ideally using ESATAN-TMS or similar)
- Experience in space industry
- Ideally some experience with or knowledge of manufacturing techniques for prototyping and production
We're looking for you to be a strong communicator and collaborator as you'll be working alongside various other engineering teams. You'll need to be comfortable multitasking as we're often delivering multiple projects at once, varying in size and complexity. Ultimately we're looking for someone who is keen to join us in our growth journey as we increase in size and capability to deliver ever more exciting and complex programmes.Location & flexible working:
You can be based at either one of our main sites: Harwell (Oxfordshire), or Bristol. We'd expect you to be on-site a minimum of 2-3 days a week.
