Job description

The role encompasses senior account management coupled with an element of mentoring and coaching across some members of the sales team. Core objectives surround the day-to-day management of the existing client portfolio and securing the net new business target allocated to the jobholder.

*This role is home based looking after the Midlands and the Southern Counties*

It is the core principal of the jobholder to retain existing clients and to attract new clients to Willis Towers Watson. Also to identify additional opportunities within existing clients. Defining, owning and implementing a Business Plan to underpin the delivery of the Net New Business (NNB) Sales Target set for the job holder. Within the plan to identify areas to expand the range of products and services to prospects and clients.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Accountable for the preparation ownership and delivery of a Business Plan for the development of the job holder's existing portfolio and potential opportunities. The business plan will underpin the delivery of the job holder's NNB target in conjunction with prospect opportunities that are generated by the job holder and the Tele-Business team.
  • Competent sales person who is able to meet sales targets set by the Sales Director.
  • Record and check sales figures on a monthly basis to ensure that they reflect the jobholder's performance in according with their target.
  • Management of own client and prospect portfolio in line with the standards of business practice defined by Willis Towers Watson.
  • Effective and efficient management of own time is also required in relation to travel and resource to ensure cost effectiveness proper use of company expenses.
  • Contributing to the overall business strategy through conceptual ideas for consideration by the respective line manager and Sales Director. These can range from new product development, service initiatives and marketing concepts.
  • Mentoring of other sales colleagues will be required with a view to supporting the overall strategy for training and development across the wider sales team.
  • To attend client and prospect business meetings as arranged by the Tele-Business team at pre-arranged date/time and venue.
  • To assess the best products and service options in relation to the particular requirements of each client. To ensure best advice is given at every stage of the sales process and adherence to regulatory requirements is observed.
  • Required to work closely with the Sales Support team, assisting in the preparation of quotations and client reports; ensuring the completed review document accurately reflects the requirements of the client and covers all options available for discussion.
  • Good insurer relationships are essential to good management of all existing and prospective client business. The job holder is expected to nurture insurer contacts to establish strong working relationships.
  • Full compliance with the completion of data entry onto the CRM system
  • A team approach to business development is a fundamental element of Willis Towers Watson success strategy.

Context/Relationships:-

  • Ensure good working relationship with insurer contacts.
  • Retain and develop good client working relationships and, where possible, extend the range where possible.
  • To develop relationships and to maximize each and every opportunity in relation to prospects.


The Requirements

  • Experience within the Health and Benefits market sector in a client facing commercial role.
  • Willingness to study for relevant industry qualifications to a minimum of Cert CII.
  • Good influencing and presentation skills with experience at presenting to Board level.
  • A good knowledge of relevant products and funding options available in the market place and knowledge of competing intermediaries.
  • Strong knowledge of each market provider's products and differentiators is essential to an effective contribution to this role.
  • Good computer literacy and an ability to adopt with ease new processes and procedures.
  • A good understanding of the FCA regulations and their impact on the job role. An understanding of principles and rules relating to confidentiality as defined by the Data Protection Act.
  • A professional and approachable manner with all internal and external clients.
  • Good attention to detail with enhanced abilities in numerical and verbal reasoning.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Adaptable to change and new processes.
  • A good influencer and negotiator whose skills can be encouraged in others.

Needs to be willing to:-

  • Undertake travel is essential to effectively undertake the role.
  • Overnight stays may be required to support ergonomic use of own resource and to support at business networking events.
  • Entertain clients and insurers to establish and further develop key business relationships.
  • If required attend industry awards and networking events as a representative of Willis Towers Watson adhering at all times to the professional and ethical codes of conduct of the Organisation.
