Role Outline

Jacobs are recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to join our Engineering Development team, which has recently won several important projects and has a host of exciting new opportunities in nuclear fusion, new reactor development, nuclear decommissioning, operational reactor maintenance and support.

As one of the fastest growing departments in CMS-I, we are regularly involved in delivering a variety of exciting bids and projects within a number of different industries and as such the ideal candidate needs to be someone with a good broad ranging technical background, who is used to taking the lead and has a demonstrable track record of contributing to projects effectively within a highly regulated environment. We are looking for candidates who can encourage and develop others in their team whilst accustomed to taking a hands-on approach.

This role will be based in our Birchwood office in the North West of the UK but there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.

Key Responsibilities include:

The successful candidate will support the delivery of tasks within a project and bid environment. An ideal role for an ambitious person to join a team with a strong focus on development and growth opportunities for capable individuals. Your responsibilities will be supporting various and diverse nuclear clients providing Front End Engineering Design through to full life cycle project requirements including:

  • Produce process engineering project design deliverables such as mass balance, pump and equipment sizing calculations; datasheets, basis of design; process & control philosophy; P&IDs

  • Produce technical deliverables such as development plans, technology readiness assessments, development task specifications

  • Plan and prioritise own work to ensure that functional project requirements on scope, time and cost are met. Lead technical packages of work and/or small teams.

  • Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained taking into account any special contractual requirement. Seeks advice from more experienced or specialist resources as required.

  • Ability to work and effectively communicate within a team environment and with peers from other disciplines along with project management, both within Jacobs and that of the client.

  • Takes personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects, and demonstrating this by example.

  • This role will be based in Warrington, mobility and flexibility to work anywhere in the UK is part of the job. Potential for worldwide assignments.Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate work experience in a highly regulated industry

  • Degree Qualification, Chemical Engineering BEng (Hons)

  • Familiarity with nuclear design principles and processes

  • Good oral and written communication skills (Required)

    Desirable

  • 5 years experience in the nuclear industry

  • Chemical Engineering MEng (Hons)

  • Chartered status

  • Experience of design for manufacture

  • Able to demonstrate that continuing professional development has been a part of their career so far

  • Working knowledge of Excel and appropriate CAE packages
