Job description

The Pricing team is part of Portfolio Management at AGCS and is responsible for understanding the exposures in the portfolios and working with the lines of business to create appropriate strategies to manage these exposures. The team is located across London, Munich, Bucharest, Chicago and New York.

In this role, you will be a business partner to the AGCS lines of business areas. You will take an active part in guiding and steering the exposures in the portfolio and as part of that will inform appropriate pricing strategies to enable AGCS to meet long-term profit targets. You will provide advice and tools that enable execution of these strategies and support in the monitoring of outcomes.

In this role you will…
•Carry out deep-dive profitability reviews (both proactively and in response to concerning leading KPIs). This will involve analysis of the profitability of individual accounts and/or business segments, as required
•Ensure that the results of such analyses lead to meaningful portfolio actions and are reflected in technical pricing models as appropriate
•Monitor outcomes of the steering activities, following profitability analyses
•Develop and maintain pricing tools, in particular, this involves refinement of the tools through recalibrations and the development of appropriate statistical pricing methodologies
•Peer review work from other team members and provide guidance to junior team members
•Establish an excellent working relationship with Underwriting and senior management to ensure their long-term support for technical pricing concepts and pricing tools
•Keep abreast of or lead on projects which affect the use of technical pricing and influence the direction of these projects so that technical pricing is promoted at AGCS
•Develop strong processes around modelling and analysis
•Coordination of global, cross-team projects as required
•Successfully collaborate across Portfolio Management team and all AGCS departments
•Understand market developments globally and ensure that loss trends, both prospective and retrospective, are understood and reflected in our underwriting activities

•Qualified P&C Actuary with significant post qualified experience
•Extensive experience of commercial lines pricing, ideally large corporate and specialty lines. Knowledge of long tail lines an advantage
•A natural curiosity with an ability to ask probing questions and the tenacity to ensure that those questions lead to appropriate action
•Partnering mentality with the ability to build strong working relationships with peers, management and the business areas
•Demonstrated ability to influence others, particularly over those without direct authority
•Experienced in discussing with and presenting information to senior leaders
•Strong results orientation with a proven track-record of delivering on-time projects and process improvements
•Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel, VBA & SQL
•Ability to work in an international environment
•Desire to be involved in wider corporate issues
