Job description

Would you like to being a driving-force behind a major nuclear infrastructure project, working to achieve net zero? This is your chance to contribute to securing new nuclear power for the UK and delivering our low-carbon energy goals.

The role of Financing Structuring Manager is at the heart of developing a new structure for financing a new nuclear power plant which will inform an intergral part of negotiations with the developer. The role will require balance competing priorities to ensure the project offers value for money for consumers and taxpayers whilst also attracting investment. As part of this role you will consider the specifics of funding & financing structures required and delve into the requirements of a Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model.

The role will require being able to articlate complex financial requirements as well as working with our specialist legal, financial and technical advisors and a cross Whitehall. You will steer the project towards that endpoint through building understanding of investability requirements and engaging with relevant investors and stakeholders as well as having the opportunity to drive forward and participate in the capital raising activity.

This role is a cross cutting one that sits in the middle of a busy and dynamic project team which will allow involvement in broad areas of the project including policy development, legal requirements, technical due diligence and business case development.

ResponsibilitiesIn particular you will:

• Support the advancement of the Regulated Asset Base funding model design of the project to take it to an investable position.

• Lead on briefings for Ministers and officials across Whitehall.

• Work through establishing the legal entity for the development, ensuring that all relevant documentation is in place to enable an investment.

• Confirm policy on the revenue workstream will be acceptable for investors and propose any amendments required.

• This role will involve coordination with various workstreams (including across Whitehall colleagues and external advisors), close collaboration with the RAB legislative team and contributing to wider negotiations on the Sizewell C project.

• You will line manage junior members of staff coming into this area of the team and task others within the wider team.

• You will handle our external advisors working in this area, in particular running the work and spend profile of legal, financial and technical advisors.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in crafting / delivering policy and/or working in a commercial environment.

• Desirable experience in economic regulation or energy market.

• You can communicate sophisticated scenarios with transparency, conviction and passion to non-specialists.

• You will have strong skills in drafting, interpreting information, partner management and leadership.

• You appreciate the political context and have ideas about strategies for ensuring the best value for Government and UK electricity consumers.

• You have good judgement and can analyse and present evidence and knowledge to provide accurate, expert and professional advice.

• You can build and maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people. You work collaboratively, share information and build encouraging, responsive relationships with colleagues. You act honestly and with integrity.

This post is advertised as a Fixed Term or Loan contract for a period of 9 months.
