Job description

Job purpose:

Reporting into the Head of Student Recruitment, you will be responsible for executing the student recruitment strategy through effective leadership of the operational management team. You will be accountable for ensuring an effective, robust student recruitment process across the core programmes which in turn ensures graduate, undergraduate and school targets and key diversity targets are achieved. You will line manage four recruitment managers and the wider operations team, as well as a dotted line into Belfast student recruitment, acting as a point of escalation for key senior stakeholders across the UK firm. You will also take responsibility for the successful service provision via our Talent Shared Service centre and external suppliers. You will also be expected to drive continuous improvement through delivery of strategic projects across the year.

This role is available on a full-time basis or part of a job share.

Recruitment and Selection Operations
  • Responsibility for leading the student recruitment operations team to deliver recruitment targets:

  • Responsibility for Student Recruitment Operations budget; monthly review of expenditure to ensure accuracy and monitoring of overall spend vs target.
  • Cost control through rigorously monitoring candidate volumes at every stage in the recruitment process, ensuring minimal wastage and reviewing spend frequently to identify any need for course correction.
  • Accountable for delivering firm's student recruitment technology platforms - SAP Success Factors (onboarding) - co-ordinating with Global and EMEIA leads and ensuring fit for purpose
  • Account manages relationship our Talent Shared Service centre, as well as the Amberjack video screening team; monitoring performance against SLAs; conducting regular review of service and any contractual commitments.
  • Accountability for firm's selection policies (e.g. hiring rules; criminal convictions, international or mitigating circumstances candidates etc.); ensuring fit for purpose and 100% compliance across the firm.
  • Team management and contribution
    • Responsibility for direct line management and daily performance of 4 Student Operations managers.
    • Responsibility for Student Recruitment Operations team (12 heads) - supporting all team members to achieve recruitment goals.
    • Responsibility for weekly manager meetings and contribution to overall team meetings, as well as presenting in recruitment senior management meetings.
    • Demonstrates an in depth understanding of the student recruitment market and uses it to support student recruitment managers to deliver annual targets.
    • Provides coaching and mentoring, as well as handling any disciplinary/performance issues.
    • Shares knowledge of business and recruitment market issues/data with the wider team.
    MI and reporting
    • Accountable for timely, relevant and accurate reporting and recruitment team MI.
    • Responsible for weekly monitoring of key recruitment metrics and team delivery against key recruitment metrics; supports managers to adjust activity and engage teams to meet targets.
    • Collates market relevant data to inform strategic decisions and policy making.
    Partnering with the business
    • Responsible for ensuring strong and credible relationships between Student Recruitment and Service Line leadership.
    • Delivering key student recruitment messages at monthly People Partner/Student Recruitment operations meetings.
    • Account manages relationship with TSS leadership team; monitoring performance against SLAs and ensuring quality service delivery to Student Recruitment team.
    • Building relationships with EY teams including Professional Qualifications, Student Induction teams, Procurement, Legal and IT to ensure Student Recruitment is appropriately represented.
    • Accountability for ensuring that Student Operations Managers deliver candidate pipelines aligned to UKI and FSO service line requirements.
    • Primary escalation point for challenges raised by business or candidates with specific ownership for monitoring relationship with partner or client contact candidates.
    Critical knowledge and experience
    • Extensive Student Recruitment experience gained within professional services or other commercial entities.
    • Experience of having designed and implemented student recruitment strategies and significant projects.
    • Experience of having led a student recruitment team; an accomplished people manager.
    • Commercially driven and effective budget / P&L management.
    • Able to interpret and analyse MI, drawing out key trends and presenting these in an engaging way, as well as utilising to make key business decisions. Must be confident with Excel.
    • Experience of having developed a network and credible relationships with senior stakeholders.
    • Cognizant of the latest employment legislation and key issues surrounding immigration.
    • Degree educated or equivalent.
    • Advanced knowledge and experience of core assessment and selection tools.

    • Participates in regular discussions with senior stakeholders about the strategic direction of the business and impact on recruitment; serves as a trusted advisor.
    • People management - able to lead and motivate and inspire others.
    • Relationship building skills - with the ability to challenge senior management where necessary but recognises the need to listen to, respond and adapt style to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally.
    • Identifies when to share information with immediate team (for knowledge or best practice) or when to escalate significant issues.
    • Strong project management skills - able to plan and manage time effectively with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
