THE TEAM The HR team in London consists of 40 people. The HR generalist team comprises four Senior HR Managers, one HR Manager, three HR Advisors and is supported by the HR Service Delivery Team in London and Manila. The generalist team work closely with the HR specialists in Recruiting, Global Mobility, Reward, Employee Relations, Pensions and Benefits, HR Systems, Diversity and Inclusion. Outside of HR they also work closely with Resource Management and Practice Management.
Each Senior HR Manager reports to the Head of HR Business Partnering and works closely with the HR Director, EMEA to develop and implement the HR strategy. The purpose of the Senior HR Manager role is to work with and influence key stakeholders and partners to support strong business performance by identifying areas for improvement and facilitating change initiatives. The Senior HR Manager role will support dedicated fee-earner and business services departments and have oversight of all HR matters within each team as well as taking part in strategic project work.

Where necessary advise on re- organisations, restructurings, redundancies and transfers in conjunction with the Employee Relations Manager. • Design and lead on the implementation of various policies and practices including maternity, flexible working, shared parental leave, mentoring, equal opportunities, headcount management, and dismissal. • Work collaboratively with the Practice Management team, Resource Management team and the relevant Commercial Business Partners to ensure the appropriate information is gathered to accurately influence decision making. • Work with the HR leadership team to communicate and share expertise across the regions. • Design and lead strategic project work, working collaboratively with stakeholders and other specialists. Write business cases and strategy papers to be reviewed by Senior Management teams for sign off and assisting with the roll out of the project. • Work with L&D colleagues to ensure that those with management responsibilities have the right skills, experience and knowledge to manage people effectively and to help and support them when gaps are identified. Facilitate and deliver L&D programmes as and when required. • Work with relevant HR colleagues to ensure D&I principles are embedded in the cultures of the business areas covered and assist in applying any agreed programmes and initiatives (e.g. "Talent in the Pipeline")
Employee Engagement • Work with the business to formulate a strategy and propose tailored initiatives to improve employee engagement. • Lead and manage the Engagement Survey process for the fee-earner and business services areas.
Management • Responsibility for the day to day management, engagement and development of an HR Advisor including setting and reviewing performance objectives on a regular basis. • Provide training and coaching to the HR department. • Overseeing output and monitoring the quality of the HR Service delivery team within the Global Service Centre in Manila. • Identify areas of improvement, evaluate processes, feedback and escalate issues as appropriate to ensure optimal efficiencies. Performance Management & Employee Relations • Lead on the implementation of the associate and staff appraisal process (including the annual moderation process). • Work closely with the Resource Managers in the fee earner teams to review capacity, performance standards and effective use of client secondments. • Support the key stakeholders to deliver the annual partner appraisal process. • Work with the partners and heads of department to ensure that the outcome of the annual appraisals process is positive and meaningful. • Coach partners in the delivery of effective performance management based discussions. • Identify training needs and liaise with the L&D team as appropriate. • Lead talent management initiatives. • Work closely with the Employee Relations Manager to advise on grievances and disciplinary matters and lead ER case management. • Proactively keep up to date with current employment law and employment trends.
Salary Review • Supported by the HR Advisors, Reward & Benefits team and HR Systems team, develop the timeline and manage the annual salary and bonus review process for the relevant fee-earner and business services areas. • Work with partners and heads of department to develop an appropriate communication strategy. • Keep up-to-date with market intelligence on salaries and remuneration for the fee- earner and business services areas and ensure that remuneration remains competitive.
Skills and Experience Required • Graduate or equivalent and ideally CIPD qualified. • Proven HR professional with previous experience of building effective relationships with senior stakeholders ideally in a legal or professional services environment. • Proven people management skills • Strong team player • Commercially astute • Proactive • Strategic • Delivers results • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong influencing skills • Integrity and discretion • Ability to inspire confidence and respect at all levels • Flexible in thinking and approach
