BBC Children's In House Drama Department are responsible for a wide-range of multi-platform, award-winning drama and comedy including The Dumping Ground, Get Even, Molly & Mack, Biff & Chip, Princess Mirror-Belle, My Mum Tracy Beaker, The Beaker Girls and Lagging.
We are looking to appoint a number of Script Editors for upcoming productions across our In House Drama Production department, starting from October 2021.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic, creative Script Editor to have a key role in a Children's Drama Production. Salford is the base for most of the roles, and the Script Editor will need to attend meetings with writers and the production team, however flexibility can be considered.Role Responsibility
The Script Editor will work in close collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure their creative vision is realised - collating notes and managing relationships with Writers. You'll be working with the Producer and Executive Producer to take the scripts from premise through to completion and manage and update the script schedule, ensuring that scripts are delivered on time.The Ideal Candidate
You'll have a passion for drama and BBC Children's audiences as well as an understanding of and the ability to interpret editorial intentions, and to contribute to the generation of ideas and the resolution of script problems.
You'll be IT proficient and have experience of using a range of software packages, such as Final Draft, and you'll have knowledge of talent sources and the ability and potential of emerging writers.
It is essential that youhave previous live action drama or comedy production experience atScript Editor level, or be an experienced Assistant Script Editorready to step up.
This role requires a relevant DBS checkto be undertaken by the BBC at the appropriate level, at the point of offer of acontract of employment.
