Job description

The Role

The primary focus of the Risk Consultant is to deliver Risk Management services to support Regional Business Leaders, Industry Practices, Account Directors / Executives, New Business Leads, Project Managers, Marketing, etc. in the delivery of the GB Retail Annual Plan.

Furthermore to provide direct support in new business propositions, supporting on account defences, and delivery of Claims Defensibility & Regulatory projects in line with client expectations. The Claims Defensibility & Regulatory Practice delivers a range of services including (but not limited to):-
  • Claims Auditing
  • Claims Defensibility & Regulatory Reviews
  • Claims Defensibility Training
  • Mock Trial Training
  • Helping to develop our training proposition such as writing and filming Mock Trials
  • Seminars and other training events

Principal Duties/Responsibilities
  • Engaging with clients to help them assess current arrangements around the defensibility of claims and regulatory action
  • Providing objective advice and direction on a wide range of risk issues.
  • Supporting clients with the creation, amendment, and or/revision of documentation, policies and procedures as part of overall avoidance and defence strategies
  • Delivery of training sessions relating to accident investigation and other related areas
  • Support the client's risk journey and assist in their strategic goals and objectives.

Proposition Management
  • Provide objective advice and direction to clients and Account Teams on a wide range of operational and risk issues
  • Support Account Teams in account defences, new business propositions, and the servicing existing clients' risk management needs
  • Work with Account Teams to help identify and define client needs with a view to developing long-term client relationships
  • Leveraging industry insight, contribute to the development of the proposition for the WTW GB Retail business and other lines of business where appropriate
  • Build service offering in conjunction with Account Teams and Marketing across WTW
  • Share best practice with the wider Risk Management Team Practice Leaders, Account Teams and Business Unit Leaders as appropriate
  • Identify and manage key external and internal stakeholders (incl business developers, service teams, etc.) in the promotion and delivery of the services

Growth and Business Development
  • Work with Regional and Business Unit Leaders, Industry Practices and Marketing teams to build and deliver client and proposition-specific engagement and delivery plans for the practice
  • Attend prospect and new client meetings as appropriate
  • Work with Regional and Business Unit Leaders, Industry Practices and other relevant P&L holders to support sales strategies for each area as appropriate

Operational Delivery

  • Support the Claims Defensibility & Regulatory Practice Leader to develop practice capability within Regional Offices and Industry Practices as required - share knowledge and develop training / communication plans.
  • Participating in a full range of marketing activities to promote services both internally and externally

  • Speak at events/seminars as required and ensure the Practice expertise is captured within the Expertise Portal and on WTW.com
  • Any other duties commensurate with position or level of responsibility
  • Maintain relevant qualifications required for the role

The Requirements

  • Appropriate industry and / or professional qualifications (e.g Solicitor.)
  • A strong Regulatory and Liability background (inc Claimant or Defendant work)

  • Strong analytical skills and high levels of business and financial acumen with an understanding of legal issues, company strategy, operating environment and business objectives
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a broad spectrum of internal clients
  • Strong skills in planning and problem solving with a clear focus on understanding and exceeding client expectations
  • Good facilitation skills - able to use inclusive/collaborative styles to gain agreement and manage conflict
  • Good level of internal credibility
  • Good understanding of general insurance products, services and the insurance broking process
  • Ability to deliver training in a wide range of areas

  • Ideal candidate will have a strong legal background and legal qualifications
  • Experience within a similar role either in legal practice (or similar) or broking/insurance is preferred
  • Relevant experience of managing stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of working within large, multi-dimensional organisations
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent levels of client service
  • Good understanding of company strategy, operating environment and business objectives
  • Excellent levels of client and peer group service
  • Good understanding of general insurance products, services and the insurance broking process
