Job Introduction The One Show has an invited audience and it is the aim of the BBC to ensure that all attendees enjoy their experience and where possible, are invited due to a special interest in a certain topic or celebrity being featured in the show. We are looking for a pro-active and highly organised Audience Researcher to source and manage this audience. Due to the high profile of the programme and the fast turnaround of shows, we are only looking for the most able candidates.

Being the first point of BBC contact for audience members from the initial ticket offer through to show day. Responsibilities include emailing all information to attendees including tickets, travel directions and security information.
Being present on each show day to ensure that all audience are smoothly checked in, ensuring that full security protocol is followed and to answer any questions. Managing any access requirements in advance (where possible) via the relevant BBC department.
BBC Data Protection policies need to be learnt and put in to practice.
Ensuring that we reach out to as broad an audience as possible and taking care that our studio audience reflects our diverse viewership.
Two nights per week, the audience researcher will be required to stay for the show and to perform audience compere duties. On the remaining three nights, freelance comperes and runners will cover this position. The Audience Researcher is responsible for organising the compere rota in advance and ensuring that all comperes/runners are kept up to date with bookings and managing any necessary changes.
Are you the right candidate? If so, you will be able to demonstrate:
Extensive experience in television, probably as a PMA or Researcher
Recent, extensive experience of researching for live factual programmes
A proven track record of casting audiences and contributors, with a demonstrable commitment to reflecting a diverse audience
Experience of casting first-class contributors and talent. Developing /maintaining databases of contacts, and ensuring all data is compliant with our procedures.
Experience of working with on screen talent/audiences and ability to provide a seamless experience from first contact to show day
The ability to generate ideas for creative content and suggestions of contributors who would creatively develop it
First-class organisational skills along with a keen eye for detail
Good knowledge of The One Show and a proven passion for popular factual television
Knowledge of Legal, Editorial Policy and Data Protection guidelines and knowledge of when to refer up to more experienced colleagues
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines
