Job description



Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the group of Professor Kevin Booker-Milburn at the School of Chemistry.

 

The successful candidate will be associated with the research group of Professor Kevin Booker-Milburn and will provide teaching cover during his tenure as Director of the Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). Primary responsibilities will be to conduct original research in the areas of novel synthetic methodology and natural product synthesis and provide daily management of the research group. The candidate will also be expected to help with the writing of papers and the preparation of research proposals.

 

This is primarily a research and research management post, but the appointee will carry out teaching, such as tutorials and demonstrating, marking, postgraduate progress monitoring etc and minor administrative duties to cover Professor Booker-Milburn\'s CDT activities.

 

In order to apply, you will need to have a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with experience of methodology and complex molecule synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, catalysis, mechanism and spectroscopy. Some experience of physical organic chemistry techniques would be an advantage.
