Salary: £20,115 to £24,759 (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

Job brief

We are looking for a Recruiter who is enthusiastic, dynamic and flexible to manage candidates through the whole recruiting experience. This is an essential role as part of our recruitment service for West Midlands Police.

Our aim is to attract, hire and retain the best employees whilst building relationships with both candidates and stakeholders, to support the growth of a talented workforce for the future.

You will be managing candidates from application through to initial onboarding. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the recruitment process, from sifting applications and arranging appointments to pre-enrolment events and assessment centres for internal and external candidates.

Your role will support the Resourcing Managers to recruit the best candidates for each vacancy across the Police force in the West Midlands. We manage both small bespoke campaigns looking for specialist roles and large scale volume recruitment for uniformed posts, no two days are the same.

You will have seen in the news, we are recruiting extra Police Officers over the next few years and with the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2022 it's a really exciting time to join us.


  • Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards
  • Screen and sift job applications
  • Proactively manage candidates through the various recruitment processes
  • Plan and manage interview and assessment schedules
  • Attend assessment centres pre-joining events to answer questions from candidates
  • Respond to recruitment queries from candidates and hiring managers, received through the portal, webchat and telephone
  • Assess applicants' relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
  • Onboarding administration for new employees
  • Maintain an overview of your allocated campaign(s) to your Team Leader and colleagues.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and customers
  • Promote our values and reputation
  • Deliver high level of quality of service at all times and against agreed service level agreements, governance, performance targets, audit controls, Force policy and statutory legislation


    • Proven experience in a Recruitment position, in a fast paced high volume environment
    • Experience of working in a transactional or customer service delivery environment and effectively dealing with customers
    • Ability to prioritise high and conflicting demands effectively
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
    • Experience of using Microsoft applications and applicant tracking systems
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills
    • Experience of developing strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
    • High accuracy levels in work with clear attention to detail
    • Confident in working collaboratively in a team as well as independently
    • Inquisitive, flexible and adaptable
    • Able to learn new processes and systems quickly and effectively
    • An understanding of pre-employment checks would be useful
