Hiscox UK is a leading brand in the insurance market, recognised as setting the standards others try to emulate. We consistently deliver strong growth and exceptional returns, recruiting only the very best and empowering them to deliver. We are known for insuring the homes of the rich and famous through to the most innovative technology companies. Our customers are diverse and unique and are only united by our ability to provide specialist insurance tailored to their needs. The role
It'll be your job to support our UK Underwriting teams with their recruitment. You'll be involved in every stage, from the initial kick-off meeting, to writing adverts, finding and approaching candidates, telephone interviewing (if appropriate), the offer stage and bringing the candidate on board.
It's not just LinkedIn (which we use a lot by the way!); you'll also know how to use all the other social tools available to talk to our audience. It's more than just about posting ads though, you'll know how to engage with people and create interest and excitement in Hiscox as a place to build a career.
We want a decent ad response of course, but you'll understand that this is only a small part of the story. We need a skilled researcher, able to find the below-the-radar candidates. You will be comfortable and confident in making direct approaches to, and networking with, people in the industry. You'll also need to know when you need support and it's time to reach and work with one of our agency partners.
The pace within this part of Hiscox is consistently intense and you must be prepared to roll up your sleeves to manage the high volume of roles in a difficult recruitment market. You'll help promote best practise ensuring candidate experience is a priority and that recruitment tools and processes across all stages of the recruitment lifecycle (attraction, and selection) are upheld. You'll have to work collaboratively across the business, building and maintaining strong working relationships with people at all levels of seniority. It is a varied role, from directly sourcing candidates to providing bespoke advice on attraction and selection methods. What you'll be doing
Our must haves
- Sourcing direct candidates
- Building and maintaining a network of potential candidates through proactive market research and on gong relationship management
- Continually seeking new sourcing options, and developing creative approaches to delivering candidates to the customer
- Generating a talent pipeline, building a database of talent for future use
- Partnering with hiring managers to deliver high quality candidate experience
- Delivering against recruiting targets whilst ensuring great candidate experience and Hiring Manager satisfaction
As this role is focusing on Underwriting talent you must have knowledge of this market and experience recruiting in this market.
Direct sourcing capability including search techniques across various online and social media platforms is a must have, as is the ability to engage with people and create interest in Hiscox.
You'll jump at the opportunity to work with and influence senior stakeholders and have the ability to build trust and credibility. You'll be personable and engaging with a proven record of strong relationship building.
You won't be phased having to juggle competing deadlines and priorities and will be able to do this while balancing all your stakeholders needs.About Hiscox
As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass insurance products, selectively focusing on key areas of expertise and strength, all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way.
Defined by our strong moral fibre we prioritise above all else the principle of doing what we say we will. Insuring the unique and interesting, our search for talent is the same. We empower our people to think creatively, challenge the status quo and approach things with a solutions focused lens. This results in us being able to provide the type of insurance solutions which are often too complex for other insurance companies, we find a way where others give up.
Our straight talking culture is not for everyone but allows us to strive to improve everything we do and never settle. Trust is integral to how we operate and it allows us to work in an environment where every role has a high level of autonomy; freedom to forge your path and help set the wider agenda is evident in all parts of the organisation. Through embracing an environment that brings together people who are unique and interesting we are ensuring we build a company where teams don't all think the same - this, combined with a culture where courage to say what you think is not only actively encouraged but is central to our business model has defined our success.
If you thrive in a challenging and collaborative environment where you are trusted to work instinctively and know the company will stretch you to your full potential look no further.Diversity and flexible working at Hiscox

No promises, but please chat to our resourcing team about the flexibility we could offer for this role.
