Job description

The Proposal Manager plays a key role in the management of bids, rebids and bid avoidance initiatives for client consulting teams. Key responsibilities associated with the role include:
• Strategy development and value proposition customisation with lead consultant
• Project planning & resourcing of bid including engagement of subject matter experts
• Customer / industry research
• Production of high impact sales material for each stage in lifecycle of bid - RFI, RFP, presentation

The Role

The Proposal Manager will focus on supporting new business development and client retention activities for Willis Towers Watson's pensions consulting line of business - Retirement Solutions. The business works with clients around the world to determine the best approaches to the design, funding, governance, administration and communication of the pension arrangements and wide benefits programmes offered to their employees.

In addition to having a track record of successfully managing tender responses, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate how he/she has championed bid management best practices (process and deliverable related) and/or responded to client feedback as part of an ongoing programme of continuous improvement.


• Exceptional writing and editing skills. A real passion to produce relevant content and turn technical information into a client-friendly, readily understood proposal document.
• Proven ability to work well under pressure, to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Able to build a rapport and win cooperation at all levels across the firm in order to gather relevant information.
• Good command of Microsoft Word and familiarity with Power Point and Excel. Adobe InDesign experience an advantage, but not essential
• Experience of working in a professional/financial services environment an advantage, but not essential.
• APMP accreditation preferable
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
