Programme Manager

Here at Quilter the Group Technology Solutions team is seeking a Programme Manager to lead and manage large-scale business & IT change programmes that successfully deliver customer outcomes within the key constraints of time, cost, quality and risk appetite. Programmes may consist of multiple, interrelated projects. This is based in Southampton on a permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities and Scope of role:
  • Understand and clearly document the business objectives and critical success factors for the programme
  • Define, structure and plan the programme and approach, with consideration for the dependencies and constraints
  • Working with the Planners and project managers, ensure project plans are produced, actively maintained, of the appropriate detail, and consistently aligned to the programme plan
  • Define the programme organisation structure and resourcing model with consideration for the necessary outputs, associated skills and communication channels
  • Manage and monitor the programme on a day-to-day basis to ensure delivery on time, on budget and to schedule through effective leadership, direction, consultation and facilitation. Ensuring that agreed standards are adhered to.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all underlying projects.

  • Manage the programme risks and issues ensuring that they are impact-assessed, mitigated and escalated where appropriate
  • Manage and monitor the programme performance, progress against milestones, and appropriateness and quality of work, and where necessary takes corrective action
  • Control and report progress to the necessary stakeholders and governance bodies to the agreed standards
  • Build effective working relationships with all key stakeholders on the programme ensuring that their communication needs are understood and met
  • Seek commitment and input to the programme to increase quality and delivery success
  • Manage the assigned programme resources and suppliers to the agreed standards
  • Develop and coach Global Technology Solutions resources assigned to the programme, ensuring that the Project Manager and Project Co-ordination resources have clear development plans, regular 1-1s, performance reviews and the necessary support to expand their capabilities and skillsets Manage and monitor the programme budget providing appropriate guidance and decision making to the underlying projects
  • Proactively seek opportunities to share knowledge and experience and enhance the capabilities within Global Technology Solutions
  • Act as an ambassador for Global Technology Solutions and consistently demonstrate behaviours in line with the organisational values
  • Act as a deputy for the Head of Change Delivery as required
  • Actively input to the development of Global Technology Solutions, its people and capabilities
  • Take responsibility for personal development ensuring that a personal development plan is maintained at all times

Qualifications required:
  • Relevant management qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Prince II qualified (or equivalent) (Essential)
  • MSP qualified (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience of large-scale change delivery, preferably acquired within the Financial Services sector
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrable application of project and programme delivery methodologies
  • Experience of managing 'Virtual' teams cross function/cross business and geographies.
  • Strong knowledge of the IT delivery lifecycle, associated methodologies and their practical application
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • A capable people-manager preferably garnered in both a line and matrix management environment
