Principal Mechanical Design Engineer -Water

Job Description

OurWater and Utilities team is involved in some of the UK's most complex andstimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have anenviable reputation in the delivery of such schemes and are working closelywith some of the UK's most established and recognisable utilities companies,undertaking a vast array of projects to enhance the UK's utility services.

As aPrincipal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Wales and Bristol Hubto work on a variety of projects with our Utilities' clients in the Wales andBristol area, whilst also having the opportunity to apply your expertise toprojects across the UK.

Reporting to the Associate /Technical Director , you will be responsible for technically leadingand/or managing the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget,time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations,promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis' services during interfaces withclients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievementof the divisional business plan and building networks within the industry

Your Day-to-Day
  • Abilityto work independently and as a team member carrying out production, checking,review or approval of complex mechanical detailed designs includingcalculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
  • Leading design and advisory services relating tonew and existing water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations andancillary assets.
  • Technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects,in a Design Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital designtechniques.
  • Identify and develop innovative and optimisedtechnical solutions based on client needs and drivers
  • Lead and co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinaryteams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA)
  • Establish and grow relationships with clients andcapital alliance partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters
  • Ensuring projects meet required technical,legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
  • Act as mentor and technical supervisor to otherstaff
  • Line management and performance developmentresponsibility for assigned staff
  • Ensure capture of key project and technicalknowledge, including innovations
  • Promote MEICA team capability and achievements bothinternally and externally

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directlyrelated degree
  • Chartered Engineer status and membership of aprofessional institution such as IMechE, IET, or CIWEM
  • Significant experience in technical delivery ofprocess plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects
  • Experience of working on design and construct projectsusing digital design
  • Team leader with collaborative behaviours
  • Desired: Water and/or wastewater experience
