This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the expanding regional Oral and Maxillofacial team in our area, in a full time senior training post for an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon seeking to extend their experience in head and neck resection and reconstruction.
The position will deliver outstanding opportunities to develop skills in management of head and neck cancer, in particular in resection and free flap reconstruction in both the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
The on call will cover both sites with Brighton being the local major trauma centre and QVH being a renowned large maxillofacial unit, offering the full spectrum of services. There will be one night per week non-resident on call for Brighton (the major trauma centre) and 1 weekend in 6 in East Grinstead. The on call work in Brighton will support the OMFS on call rota and the major trauma service.
The Royal Sussex County Hospital site is currently undergoing extensive re-developments of its infrastructure. Due for completion in the spring of 2021 this £500M projectis based around achieving excellence in the '3Ts' of trauma, teaching and tertiary care, of which Cancer care is a key component. In support of these plans, we are expanding our middle grade capacity in conjunction with Queen Victoria Hospital to provide more training opportunities for the OMFS surgeons of the future. In addition this post will support the head and neck cancer services of both units and the major trauma service. All major reconstruction lists will be carried out in main theatre on the Royal Sussex County Hospital site in Brighton along with the weekly regional head and neck cancer MDT meetings and clinics.
