About this vacancy

Following an extensive procurement, we have confirmed our partnership with Allocate to supply workforce deployment software. Rolled out through our new 'Ways of Working' programme and dedicated Trust project team, this will be a unique opportunity to:
  • transform the working lives of our 10,000+ staff by rolling out innovative flexible working options that help achieve the best possible work\/life balance, and open employment opportunities to the widest pool of talent;
  • use resource management data to help clinical staff understand and own their own information, and management teams to match their available workforce to our patient care needs\/activity;
  • streamline our administrative processes - improving the workplace experience of our staff, and freeing up time for other activities that have a direct impact on patient care; and
  • make a wider contribution by publishing our experience as a full evaluation\/research study, and rigorously tracking benefits\/metrics throughout the programme.

  • We believe that by involving our teams from the start, supporting innovative working arrangements, and introducing effective resource management, we can significantly improve the health, wellbeing and workplace experience of our staff; the efficiency and financial sustainability of our services; and the quality and safety of our patient care - our BSUH 'True North'.

    We are now establishing the Project Team and are looking to recruit our Nursing Implementation Team Lead. Supported by a Senior Lead and working closely with the BSUH Nurse Director\/team and Lead for Allied Health Professions, your role will be to:-
  • Lead the rollout of the new rostering software across our wards\/nursing teams and transition from existing systems (eg. RosterPro), creating and delivering the staff training package, and managing the day-to-day deployment of the training\/implementation team. (This workstream also includes Imaging, Pharmacy, Pathology and other clinical staff groups as well as Nursing).
  • Coach and support Ward\/Service Leaders in using the new workforce data (performance analytics, benchmarking, bespoke analytical support) to improve rostering practice, and facilitate discussions with nursing teams about flexible working options and rostering innovations that could work for their team - to balance staff work\/life balance, recruitment and retention, workforce efficiency (eg. use of temporary staff), and match available staffing with patient care acuity\/activity.
  • Provide leadership and support to your project team, recognising the resilience challenges of fast-paced implementation in a busy ward\/clinical environment, and coach\/develop them to be ready for their next career move at the end of the 25 month programme.

  • This will be a unique opportunity to drive sustainable workforce innovation through a structured delivery programme; build your project, training and resource management skills in a large and complex change programme spanning the whole organisation; and make a lasting difference to our frontline staff - and, ultimately, our patients.

    Salaries for substantive posts will be offered to successful candidates in alignment with the NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. All our substantive colleagues will also receive an annual appraisal. For substantive colleagues appointed after 1 April 2019, this guides their progression through the salary steps. Please note this does not apply to Bank only applicants.

    We may also use our substantive adverts to build our Bank staff. If you are unsuccessful at interview for a substantive role but meet the BSUH specification for that role you may be offered a bank post. Please note our Bank hourly rates are outlined on a separate payscale.
