Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Meta Data and Tooling Manager to join our expanding Data Office based in Nottingham. This role will be responsible for managing the data registry, lineage and meta data tools, monitoring the use of those tools, and ensuring a high level of data quality is maintained within it. As a Meta Data and Tooling Manager you will also manage data permissions and testing platforms, to ensure that these tools are meeting the requirements of the business.

Data Governance is an integrated part of the First Line of Defence (1LOD) to support the business to be managed in a safe and protected manner. Data Governance includes ensuring that all of our data assets are registered, and can be tracked throughout the enterprise, with a clear view on data flow, permitted uses, consent for use and other meta data. It is critical that not only data managers, but product managers and other key stakeholders are able to access information about the data and how they can use it. This not only ensures we are able to track and monitor the use of our assets appropriately, it also speeds up innovation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the adoption, maintenance and ongoing evolution of our meta data tools in line with our data governance framework.
  • Accountable for ensuring all stakeholders of the data registry, data lineage and other meta data tools are clear on their responsibilities for data accuracy and maintenance, and for monitoring any standards in relation to our meta data.
  • Responsible for the meta data strategy and roadmap.
  • Responsible for the strategy and roadmap for our data permissions, data amendment, and data testing platforms, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining clear taxonomy in relation to data, ensuring all stakeholders are able to extract value from our meta data, at any stage in the data lifecycle.
Skills and requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of data tooling, MI tools, data lineage etc.
  • Good knowledge of the relationship between data and solutions architecture domains.
  • Able to articulate value through business case development.
  • Knowledge of tools and systems available that can help manage data.
  • Strong knowledge of data and product/platform use.
  • Knowledge of data architecture and model methodologies/tools sufficient to collaborate with EITS on data architecture and physical data model design.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Information Management architectures/technologies sufficient to collaborate with EITS/Solutions to evaluate, prioritize and approve Enterprise Information Management related enhancements and strategic designs and investments.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data management methodologies and technologies to design and implement modernized tooling solutions for governance and data enabling capabilities for growth.
  • Knowledge of Regional PCUs, products and business strategies to collaborate and evaluate business data architectures and cross-platform integration decisions.
  • Ability to manage large scale projects utilising expertise from across technical, business and client backgrounds.
  • Ability to articulate the value of core data architecture requirements and tooling, and develop a corresponding business case for investment when required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of how data assets are made available through Experian.
  • Strong influencing skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of project management best practice and Experian project management processes.
