About this vacancy

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals is transforming and there has never been a more exciting time to join us. We are a highly progressive, ambitious university teaching hospital and regional center for a wide variety of specialist services. With an annual turnover of over £550m there is a clear determination to achieve the Trust's strategic ambitions, including a £420m redevelopment and transformation of the Trust's estate - the Teaching, Trauma and Tertiary (3T) Care infrastructure.

We are excited to be able to offer and welcome applications for a post of Critical Care Matron at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

We are looking for someone with a wide range of skills and an appreciation of the bigger picture. You will need to be flexible and resourceful as you support the services in collaboration with the Consultants, managers and senior nursing teams. We are keen to support your professional development and ensure that you flourish to be the best leader you can be and to lead a team delivering excellent care. You will be accountable the Directorate Lead Nurse.

You will work with a high level of autonomy to ensure that you and your team achieve and exceed the many demands made of you. We want to hear from suitably qualified and experienced nurses with drive and determination to succeed. We would encourage you to discuss this role over a coffee and provide an informal opportunity to see if this is the role for you.

The beach is just moments from the hospital and to the north of the city we are surrounded by the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our city has superb transport links into London, just 50 minutes on the train, and access to Gatwick airport.

Salaries for substantive posts will be offered to successful candidates in alignment with the NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. All our substantive colleagues will also receive an annual appraisal. For substantive colleagues appointed after 1 April 2019, this guides their progression through the salary steps. Please note this does not apply to Bank only applicants.
