The University of Bristol seeks an outstanding candidate for a permanent academic appointment within the Astrophysics theme in the School of Physics.
The successful candidate will carry out world-class research which exploits state-of-the-art observing facilities preferably through involvement in, or leadership of, major international astrophysical research collaborations, and/or computational modelling of astrophysical phenomena. You will enhance and broaden the group's programme of research. This currently focusses on observational studies of galaxy and cluster evolution; the fueling of AGN and their interaction with the surrounding environment; the evolution of (exo)planetary systems; and with a growing interest in the use of Data Science techniques to maximize the usefulness of large astrophysical data sets.
For the observational side, we particularly encourage applicants with significant plans to exploit new and near-future world-leading observing facilites including - but not limited to - ALMA, JWST, SKA (and precursors), LSST, Euclid, MOONS, 4MOST, The Simons Observatory. Applications from excellent candidates with different areas of expertise and interest are also very welcome.
Applicants should possess a strong publication record and demonstrate scientific influence and leadership in international collaborations.
