The System Operator leads on strategic planning and regulatory issues within the company. Network Strategy & Planning shapes tomorrow's railway to meet the long term needs of the rail industry, its users, funders and stakeholders by understanding what the future requirements of the railway are and planning the long term capability of the network promoting the efficient use of network capacity. We are responsible for producing robust, integrated long term plans, in conjunction with other rail stakeholders. These are translated into proposed interventions to be developed and the output used to engage with potential funders. This is essential for the company to secure funding needed to effectively manage and develop the network. Brief Description The role provides professional support and maintenance of planning and performance systems including the production of planning and operational industry standard reports. The role is also to lead on CI initiatives so that the processes to produce and distribute the operational publications is efficient and effective. About the role (External) Key Accountabilities: Manage productivity adherence, minimise work queues and achieve client / Internal agreed standards Coach Publication Assistants to improve service quality and productivity Compile, produce and publish key planning publications, notices, controlled documents and other regulatory reports pertinent to Operational Planning & Performance to appropriate company standards and processes in a timely and accurate fashion Maintain and update reference data for planning and performance systems to preserve and promote their accuracy, completeness and integrity Manage the transfer and validation of data between Network Rail and external systems Update and maintain distribution databases including notifying recipients, monitoring the receipting process and taking corrective action as appropriate Provide administrative support for publications such as maintaining the publications schedule, lists of controlled documents, recipients, and delivery processes Engage with end users in both the provision and improvement of support for publications including answering queries on document control, standards and other publications queries Assist with the implementation of systems development by conducting user acceptance testing Assist in the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvement initiatives Undertake the role in a way that is consistent with, and reinforces, Network Rail's values
