Job description

Summary of Role

As a Senior Associate in the Investment Delegated Structured Products team you will help design, model, present, arrange, implement and then monitor derivative-based investment solutions, mainly for UK-domiciled pension schemes. You would contribute to the delivery of advice and solutions for a broad range of sophisticated clients and would build experience working with clients that use our solutions in a pure-matching capacity as well as a tailored, more efficient deployment of the growth (i.e. risk-taking, return-seeking) portfolio. As part of the wider UK Delegated team, you would support more junior by colleagues as they build specialism in derivatives and liability hedging. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the industry and your consultancy skills through training and by working closely with a diverse range of clients and colleagues. We are open to discussing flexible working requirements.

The Role

  • Use knowledge of gilts, swaps and derivatives markets in order to design and critically evaluate different investment solutions.
  • Become familiar with our systems allowing you to apply an understanding of cashflow liability data to determine interest rate and inflation sensitivity.
  • Look to take ownership of analysis projects carried out by the team and build your contribution to more complicated analysis or projects.
  • Have a proactive approach and take ownership of work to ensure tasks are actioned quickly and efficiently.

  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
  • Build relationships with asset managers.
  • Liaise with members of the wider Investment business and other businesses (eg Retirement, RCS) in order to gain the necessary data and understanding of the client's needs.
  • Support the development of colleagues by sharing knowledge or experience

  • Partner with Lead consultants and Portfolio Managers in order to iteratively provide a suitable solution, presented clearly with delivery in a timely manner.
  • Construct and deliver presentations to clients with support from senior team members
  • Prepare instruction letters and Investment Management Agreements to implement solutions with support from senior team members

The Requirements

  • Good IT (especially Excel) skills
  • Strong mathematical and analytic capabilities and the ability to apply mathematical concepts
  • Knowledge of traditional asset classes (particularly Fixed Income and Derivatives) and Sterling Rates/Inflation derivatives - likely gained through working at another investment firm (for example another investment consultancy or asset manager)
  • Knowledge of UK pension schemes would be preferable but not essential
  • Team focused attitude and working practice to deliver innovative, timely and accurate solutions
