The post-holder will be part of a Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT) that is providing mental health support to Kingston GP Practices. The aim of the service is to increase the number of people whose mental health support is appropriately managed within primary care and to help shape more effective pathways into secondary care for those who need it.

The Kingston Primary Care Mental Health Team is a relatively new and innovative service comprised of a consultant psychiatrists, mental health nurses and clinical psychologists.

The team work closely and in partnership with primary care services like family doctors, practice nurses and IAPT. The service is designed to be the first point of contact for GPs requiring mental health expertise to help manage patients in primary care, offering an alternative to Mental Health assessment and treatment in secondary care services.

The team offer
• Consultation/Liaison and Advice
• Assessment and triage
• Formulation of management plans
• Short term, focused interventions
• Group therapy interventions for Personality Disorder in Primary Care (STEPPS)

The service is expanding and is seeking a motivated psychologist to shape the service. The successful applicant will be a skilled clinician who is able to work autonomously and as part of a team. The will have a sense of initiative, excellent communication skills and a 'can-do' attitude.

The post holder will be based at Hollyfield House in Surbiton but will work across Kingston
